Saturday, October 22nd, 1977 - Shocked [29 Feb 2004|10:28pm]
I'm just... I'm very shocked and upset by the news, as is everyone else at the school, I'm sure. If anyone feels the need to talk to someone about it, I'm available, even though I don't really know how good I'm going to be at giving advice. You'd probably be better off talking with Professor Stokes.

I had a nice chat with Stella about the Masquerade and boys other things, and we saw Professor Stokes and baked biscuits to bring to poor Lynch as a get well gift. I'm rather tired - I was up very late working on my Transfiguration essay, and I fear it's not going to be very good. I seem to have misplaced a page of notes - if anyone finds some transfiguration notes that look like they might match my handwriting, please drop me a reply here? I'd very much like to have them back.

Had an interesting chat with Stella, and then we visited Lynch I the hospital where he wound up after Travers nearly killed him an unfortunate Quidditch accident. Hopefully he'll be back on his feet soon. I think I'll try and get some sleep, but I'm not tired for some reason.

[doodles of hearts that have been scribbled out]

I still haven't gotten my leaky quill fixed, as you can see.

MacMillan and I had a very uneventful patrol which was lucky because I still haven't got my new glasses from home yet. Dad's talking to the doctor about getting a rush, apparently. I just hope they arrive before practice, I don't want to wind up missing the snitch because I can't see. Or giving out more detentions to statues...

Ran into Brigid Moran today - actually, she ran into me. I took a school bag to the head (I think she carries bricks in there) and my glasses wound up stepped on broken. I have my spare pair, but they're not quite the right prescription and it's not really helping the headache. Must remember to owl Mum for a new pair. I'm alright, though, but I've got a rather massive headache. I may swing by the Hospital wing at some point, see if there's anything for it.

Honestly, look at me complaining away in this thing like my life is full of misery and woe. Don't pay it any attention, I've just been having a bad day, but I'm sure that just means tomorrow will be better.

Well my costumes coming along very nicely thanks to the wonderfully talented Emmeline Vance. (And really, the pinpricks have already practically healed, there's no need to apologize.) I'm rather pleased with how it's coming out so far, though I'm still nervous about the whole thing. Can you really give a boy a nosebleed by wearing a daring dress?

Thanks for letting us use your classroom, Professor Renton - I'm pretty sure I put everything back in order before we left. Oh, and a strange woman came in in the middle of the fitting wearing... well it vaguely resmbled a robe, I suppose, except it was green and I think made out of crochet. And it was a little smelly. She had a strange accent and was asking for you, so I told her to try you in your office and she left again. But I think she stole some strange Muggle device from the corner of your desk - the black one that's sort of transparent and has that sharp thing on the top? She said she'd return it.

I must say I'm rather looking forward to Quidditch this year! It'll be nice to not be the only seventh year girl on the team - congratulations again, Mabyn! Help me fight the testosterone!

Well, tryouts went very well yesterday injuries notwithstanding. A big congratulations to everyone who made the team, and thanks for coming out and being patient with us while we waited for things to take off. Practice starts soon, so be ready for it, everyone. That's about all I have to right for the moment, I'm going to try and knock off all my homework now, so I can work on my Masquerade costume this weekend. Emmeline, if you're out there? Do you think you'd be available to help out a poor hopeless Hufflepuff who stabs herself every time she tries to use a needle and thread?

I just had a chat with Professor Renton about costume ideas for the Masquerade, and now I finally know what I can wear that will match MacMillan's costume. I'm a little nervous about it, but I think I'm going to go through with it - and no, Thomas, I'm not telling you what it is. It'll match, though, you have to trust me.

Other than my costume, there isn't much to report. Quidditch tryouts are coming up, and I'm hoping we get a lot of people trying out. MacMillan and I are coming up with a strategy to beat Gryffindor this year, so hold onto your broomstick, Potter! [doodle of a happy face]

Oh and PS - Apparently Professor Renton has a friend named Marty which is funny because my brother's name is Martin and I call him Marty whenever he's not close enough to smack me for it. Small world, I suppose.

Thursday, September 22, 1977 - Early evening [30 Jan 2004|05:34pm]
Just returned from the Memorial Service, and I'm glad I could have been there for the Prewetts and everyone else who was affected by this horrible crime tragedy death crime. I don't feel much like writing now, and anyway I have Charms homework to work on.

And if this was supposed to make me stop feeling guilty, it didn't work.

Attention all Hogwarts Students

As I'm sure you're all aware by now, the memorial service for Annette Prewett is being held tomorrow. With the help of the Headmaster, we're going to be organizing a trip to the memorial for those students who want to go and pay their respects. If you are interested in attending, please comment to this entry and I'll be sure to get your name to Headmaster Dumbledore.

In these times of grief, I think it's important for the students to band together and show their support for one another, and this is one way that I think we could show that even though we're mostly separate from events that happen outside Hogwarts walls, we are still concerned for one another and care about what happens in our world.

Honestly, I'm so scatterbrained sometimes: I packed this away under my dress robes and it wasn't until I was bringing them out to check them over before the Masquerade that I even realized where it was. I've finally caught up on everything, though, and I'm starting to feel rather insecure about my costume ideas - namely the fact that I don't actually have any. I was going to be a badger, but somehow I don't think that's the most original idea after seeing so many people mention it. I don't suppose I could really just wear my Quidditch robes and go as a professional player, either... That seems like cheating, somehow.

Speaking of Quidditch, practice starts soon. I did a bit of practicing when I could over break, but Martin wasn't home this summer so that he could throw sickles into the air for me to fly after, so I couldn't do as much as I would have liked. He's off on assignment somewhere and I can't owl him back, but he sent me an owl not long ago telling me he was doing fine, which I thought was nice of him. Of course he addressed the letter: "Dear Boogerhead" so I think that sort of takes away from it.

Ugh, brothers!
